Spooky Sushi Special on Halloween Day

Halloween and costume wearing (called "Kosupure") have become more and more popular over recent years in Japan. We felt that we would celebrate this trend by encouraging you all to wear your great and clever costumes into our restaurant on Saturday.

What better way to start your day (or night) of trick-or-treating, parties, and/or complete mayhem than enjoying our sushi and Japanese cuisine?

To show our appreciation for your creativity, you will receive 10% off your meal all day if you are wearing a Halloween costume to dine in.

Also, there MAY be a prize for the person with the best costume of the day.

As always, the more creative you are, the better.

In case you still do not have solid plans for Halloween yet, Downtown Orlando will be hosting their traditional Halloween block party on Orange Avenue. Joining in on the fun there would make it much easier for you to stop in for a quick lunch, dinner, or quick snack along the way.

We look forward to celebrating Halloween with all of you.

And no, this isn’t a TRICK. It’s our TREAT!

Did you know that Ichiban is a proud participant of the Buy Local Orlando campaign?
Do you have your Buy Local card yet?

Well, if not, you're in luck. We happen to have a bunch at our restaurant. Just ask our hostess for one when you're in.

Or, if you can't come in to our restaurant, you can also register and print your card from http://www.buylocalorlando.net/whybuy.htm

As part of the "Strengthen Orlando" initiative, Buy Local Orlando is a pro-active campaign created  to strengthen Orlando business within its local community. Patrons can save precious time and money looking elsewhere for food and entertainment.

The Buy Local Card awards customers for choosing local businesses by offering merchant discounts as well as periodic emails to inform new events, new members and special offers.

For example, simply show your card to the new Downtown Plaza Cinema Cafe and enjoy a movie for under $5.00!!!

Sushi and a movie anyone?

It's All About the Kids

Every year on May 5th, Japan has a wonderful holiday, (“Kodomo no hi”), that celebrates the youth of its children and their mother's dedication (kind of like Mother’s Day in the U.S.). Japan loves their children and the families that raise them! What better way to show them our love than by featuring a day for them? We want to hear ideas from you about what you like to do when celebrating your family - especially with the little ones.

  • It could be a fun tradition.
  • A game you play.
  • OR anything that you do together as a family (It could be eating sushi).
One interesting option that could be something new and exciting for your family is actually derived from Japanese tradition on this day. Families make kites called "Koinobori" that resemble carp - a fish that in Japan represents strength and courage. There are all types of designs and colors to choose from to best match your kids and your families’ style, and best of all, they come in easy to build kits.

There is a lot of information on this tradition and the kits online. Just Google search "Koinobori." Please give us your much appreciated feedback on this and we will come up with something special for all Ichiban Orlando families.

Sushi is Fuel for the Body and Mind

The foods you eat directly impact the performance of your body and mind. The act of thinking is a bio-chemical process that creates neural pathways. The messengers on these pathways are called neurotransmitters, which are made up of amino acids found in high protein foods such as fresh fish. Your brain is also 60% fat, and the omega-3 fatty acids that are found in fish such as salmon, tuna, and trout fuel brain function. It will even better your mood and IQ as well as help memory.

This makes Ichiban sushi a power lunch for your mind!

Read this interesting report on this topic:

"Omega 3 fatty acids are essential to the optimum performance of your brain."
